About Blacky
I did my first painting of Blacky about 2 years ago. I think that
I knew subconsciously that his time was near and wanted to
create something special to remember him by.
Blacky had a stroke in December 2003 and died 2 years later,
fighting all the way.

He was a Border Collie/Springer Spaniel mix I had adopted
from
the SPCA in Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1997. After looking at
various purebreds, including Springers, I decided to visit the SPCA.
Although warned not to fall in love with the first dog, all the signs pointed to Blacky.
On the way to the shelter, I saw a billboard for “Jesse's Garbage Removal”
– Jesse was my first choice name. Blacky was in the very first kennel and
looked like a Springer. My family made me look at all the other dogs but
it did not take long before I went back to Blacky and the rest was history.
Blacky was a gentle and compassionate dog. He understood me more than I knew.
It was only after August 2005, with the passing of Blacky that this website
was created. It took 2 years but it is truly a creative venture that is drawn from love and
passion – love and passion for both animals and art.
